Google Releases Ironwood: Seventh-Generation Tensor Processing Unit
Google has released Ironwood, its seventh-generation Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) designed for real-time AI inference and advanced AI models. Ironwood scales up to 9,216 TPUs and delivers computation power over 42.5 Exaflops, enabling a new age of AI inference. Key features include enhanced memory bandwidth, Inter-Chip Interconnect networking, improved power efficiency with liquid cooling, and the refined SparseCore. With Google's Pathways software, Ironwood supports large-scale AI model training, offering high performance and cost-effectiveness on Google Cloud.
